All competitions and practices are mandatory to ensure our teams are fully prepared and performing at their best.
Our first competition is generally at the beginning of November, and our last competition is usually in March. Our black team will do roughly five competitions while our gold team will do 8-10.
Throughout the season, SCCA competes at various locations, including Central Dauphin, Cumberland Valley, The Miller Center, Milton, Southern Columbia Shamrock Showcase, Spooky Nook, Kalahari, and Williamsport. Each competition requires a registration fee, which typically varies but is generally around $20 per event. We do one or two bigger events per year. The registration fee for the bigger event tends to run $70-$80.
On competition day, athletes will arrive and meet as a team, go through a structured warm-up process, and then take the mat to compete. After all teams have performed, there is usually an awards ceremony where placements are announced. Many competitions also offer optional jump-offs and tumble-offs, allowing athletes to showcase individual skills for extra recognition. Competitions are an exciting part of the SCCA experience, providing athletes with the opportunity to demonstrate their hard work, build confidence, and create lasting memories with their team.
