Rec (Recreational) Cheer at Southern Columbia Cheerleading Association (SCCA) is a competitive cheer program that focuses solely on performance and competition—we do not cheer for any sports teams. Our independently run organization provides athletes with the opportunity to learn and perfect cheer motions, jumps, stunts, tumbling, and dance in a high-energy, two-and-a-half-minute routine. SCCA teams compete at local events, showcasing their skills in a fun and supportive environment. Whether you're new to cheerleading or looking to advance your abilities, SCCA’s rec program is designed to help athletes build confidence, teamwork, and strong cheer fundamentals.
At SCCA, we perform a traditional rec routine. Our competition routine is 2 minutes and 30 seconds long, combining both traditional cheer and high-energy music sections. The first minute is dedicated to cheer, where we focus on projecting strong voices, sharp motions, and crowd-leading skills to showcase our spirit and enthusiasm. The remaining 1 minute and 30 seconds is set to music and features an exciting mix of standing tumbling, running tumbling, stunts, jumps, pyramids, and dance. This section highlights our team’s athleticism, synchronization, and overall performance skills. Every routine is designed to showcase our athletes’ strengths while building confidence, teamwork, and a passion for competitive cheerleading.
